Does anyone know if the brake cylinders for a 1951 GMC 2 ton truck are available from auto parts stores such as NAPA? Part numbers? As far as I know there are ones for the front wheels and two different ones for the rear wheels.
Hy dsword, please use the series number of your truck rather than the term "2 ton", it makes it easier to pinpoint the parts you are looking for.
The front brake cylinder 5453780
The rear brake front 5453866 and the Rear brake rear 5453865
This is for a 350-24 1951
Thanks. What I was looking for.
To answer 3B, the truck is a 1951 GMC 354-24. I think that is comparable to the Chevrolet 6000 series.
Hy dsword, I found some jobber part numbers for the wheel cylinders you seek. Napa front UP14481 $128.99, rear forward UP 14499 $128.99, rear reverse UP 14500 $128.99 RockAuto, Raybestos front WC14481 $70.79, rear forward WC14499 $69.79, rear reverse WC14500 $69.79, hope that helps.
Thanks for the numbers. I went to Napa and they were able to find the part but they were not readily available. Went to a Carquest outlet and they had the listings but could not get them. I ended up ordering from Chevs of the 40s which is fairly local to me. Their prices are about the same as Napa.
Don't trash the old ones. They can usually be relined with a stainless steel sleeve by a competent machinist.
Would this also be true for a 46 with a two -speed rear end or are they totally different?
Do you have two cylinders per wheel, or just one? Chevs of the 40s only shows up to 1-1/2 ton for 1936-1950.
I always take the original part numbers, and check ebay. There's one of them on there now.
