I need 14x2.5 shoes and wheel cydrs, who is a good source for these?
Wheel cylinders can be found at NAPA and Chevs of the 40's.
I have been looking for shoes with no luck. I am going to get them re-lined at my local brake place.
I can't recommend the Dorman wheel cylinders after trying to install them. The mounting bolt holes are misplaced and the bolts can't be tightened up against the backing plate.
The other stuff fit perfectly.
Napa brake shoes UP-299R are 14x2.5 bendix style brake shoes. They fit perfect on my '53 except I had to drill the hole for the park brake arm mounting bolt.
Thanks for your help. The Napa part no# for the rear wheel cyd is #18010 its 1"1/4 bore. Parts are coming in a few days.
Napa can get your shoes Redlegs48 if they are the same as mine the part # is up-299r. Thanx PootersPanel
This was very helpful! Thanks for the item numbers. I called my local Napa and they had the cylinders and shoes. Saved me from pulling some hair from my head!!
I placed my order from NAPA. Shoes look to be fine, cylinders don't fit. The screws just don't line up. So I found AUTOZONE has similar ones, DURALAST item number 33048 and ordered them from there. Fingers crossed those will work. Otherwise I suppose I can just rebuild them.
Did you check Rockauto.com?
Yes, I bought all my items for the front from Rockauto but they don't have the items for the rear.
The fronts were DURALAST and fit just fine so I hope the backs are the same.
