I’ve decided to make my own bed from some locally sourced rough sawn cedar wood stock. Can someone tell me the dimensions the wood planks need to be? (Length x width x thickness)

I’m guessing the thickness is key so that the edge boards can fit under the side rails. If my wood is too thick I would try to “notch” the edge of those two boards so they could fit under the rails. I don’t have a planer.

Thanks for any help.
