I found this spring in the frame of my ‘52 Chevy 1/2 ton. I don’t know where it belongs or if it belongs. It’s about 1-1/2” tall. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!

Where, and in what frame (chassis/body frame, seat frame, . . . )?

Drivers side just in front of the steering box. I had just removed the bypass oil filter assembly troubleshooting low oil pressure and there it was just sitting in the frame making me think it was something I did. I doubt it would have stayed in that position while I drove the truck. I thought it went to the bypass filter holding down the internal filter but it doesn’t fit around the internal pipe.

The small end snaps into the bolt on the cover. it holds the cartridge down when you tighten the bolt.

Thanks, that makes sense. I’ll try that when I get home tonight.
