Well I am not sure really how to post this but I am going to give it a shot. I am trying to figure out to get my truck to sound like this. Here he says "1957 Chevrolet Pickup Truck 3200 series. FENTON dual carb intake manifold, FENTON dual exhaust manifold, (2) 1bbl Rochester carbs, 235cui bored out .40 over. Flowmaster 40series mufflers." Non Banjo sound 235 with 40 series mufflers 1st off I have a 1956 Chevy 3100 just rebuilt and here are the specifics: 235 bored .030 with a stock 261 cam, "848" head with the hardened seats, Fenton 2x1 Intake and Fenton cast iron headers with the split exhaust, dual Carter Weber progressive 2bbl carbs, Mini H.E.I. distributer, and crank turned -.010 x -.010. I will be using a t-5 tranny for the transmission. What will be the correct size exhaust pipes to run? Do I need an "X" or "H" pipe? Does anyone have their truck or car sound like the clips above? If so what did they use or what did they do? I went to the search here but it really did not answer my question. If someone knows of a link I will want to read it or even better if they have a sound clip I would like to hear it too. Many thanks again guys

I always thought the Fenton dual exhaust manifolds used the same size exhaust pipes as a stock single did.
Doubt many use an H or X crossover pipe in the dual setup.

The H pipe makes the sound more mellow, doesn't crackle as much.

I'd like to put dual exhaust on mine, but I think I'm going to go with just a split stock manifold like I've seen on here.

I don't have 1st hand experience with this engine set up.I have had a 250 with split exhaust that had a good sound. I slpit it 2 and 4 on my dads advice,he was right it had a v8 sound.I have read ,I believe on clifford performance web sight,that these engines sound best with a 2-1/4' pipes and 3" chambered mufflers.I to want a good old time hot rod sound.

Nope. You are not alone. I kept waiting for the deep throat of a lumpy cam, but only got banjos. Oh well. Have a great Thanksgiving anyway.

No Banjo's in this one... Maybe the pipes aft of the muffler are a bit to long on giving it some "CowBell" but... it's a sweet sound just the same.
Give me ambiguity
or give me something else

I agree and it's the sound I was after with essentially the same engine setup first described. The original mufflers were so loud that I vetoed them and replaced them with a more or less stock unit that I have on ther now. I really love the sound in this clip Bill. Thanks for sharing it.
