Well, things kind of went crazy. The person that I was dealing with is retiring and leaving all together (supposedly), and the new person I'm dealing with at the shop doesn't know what's happened with what we've done with the pickup and is talking a price I can't afford to finish it. So I'm going to have to just have them finish the fender work, drag everything back home to just put it together, and then take it to the paint shop in Reno. They're saying like 7,000-9500 or more to finish it completly, paint and all. A lot of that cost is labor, and I'm working for myself so I'm just going to have them finish the things I can't do and then do the rest myself like putting the bed together and on, the engine-transmission back on and together and so forth. I just can't afford to have them do it. The first guy I was dealing with was making it more reasonable for me because we were making it presentable, not perfect. The new guy says he wants to get it done right which I just can't do it. The only things that I wouldn't mind having a little rough edges to a few certain pieces so it will stay original. The fenders, bed, cab, and hood is what I'm most concerned about and they finished the cab, almost done with the hood and fenders, and I can put the bed together. So I'm hoping there will be a good time for me to go over there when they're done and pick it all up so I can get it finished. That's the latest and greatest...

I'm kinda where you are with my '38 1 ton. I have the same plans to rebuild and make it presentable, not perfect. However I am trying to do all the work myself. I picked up this truck in June of 2011 and it's taken this long to get rid of the rust and start reassembly. Good luck!

I wish I had the time to do it myself, buy if I tried, I wouldn't have gotten as far as we have at the shop. Almost done, just have to bring all the pieces back and reassemble it and take it to the paint booth. Thanks, and good luck on yours too, can't wait to see your get done!

Hey, I just got word that they're all done with the pickup in the body shop. I'm planning on going over there as soon as I can and pick up everything and get it all together to get it painted soon! Keeping you posted on what's going on!

too bad you've run into the glitches. But that is how it often goes. It takes a lot of time and treasure to do it all right. But it will be worht it when it's done.
