I'm interested in finding more info. on the AD Maple Leaf trucks. Especially the Heavy Duty models. I was sent photos of two that were sitting in a rock quarry several years ago(can't find them now), & the first thing I noticed was one had the larger 6 stud Budd wheels, & the other had Dayton wheels, like a 450, or 470 series GMC would have. Also they both had the larger steering wheel, with small round horn button just like a 450, & 470 GMC would have. Anyone have information on the Heaviest AD Maple Leafs? Were the Three Tons the Heaviest? Were there any AD COE Maple Leafs?

Hy Spanky and guys, Yes the three ton was the heaviest Chevrolet Maple Leaf, all of mine have Motor wheels, some five bolt, some six bolt, depending on truck size, hope that helps.

So on the 6 lug motor wheels, do the Maple Leafs use the same Heavier, wider front axle that the 450, & 470 series GMC's used, which caused them to use the larger, wider front fenders. Seems like I remember the photo of the two Maple Leafs I had showed them with the larger fenders.

Hy Spanky, according to my Canadian parts book the front axle on my 1950 Maple Leaf 1700 series (3 ton) p/n is 5834322, the part number for the 450 GMC is 2229113. The front fenders for the Maple Leaf are p/n 3682482 R.H. for all tires except 9.00X20, p/n 3682481 L.H. for all tires except 9.00X20, for 1947-51 with 9.00X20 tires p/n 5836500 R.H., L.H. p/n 5836499. Fenders for a 450fc p/n 2275893 R.H., L.H. p/n 2275894, I know my Maple Leaf fenders are not as large as those on my 450s hope that helps.

So according to those different prt. no.'s if a Maple Leaf was spec.'d with 9.00/20 tires, it had different fenders? 3B, does your Maple Leaf have a Chevy, or GMC engine. Do you have the small round horn button?

Hy spanky, after 1939 all three ton Maple Leafs (17 series) were GMC powered, the two and a half ton Maple Leafs were Chevrolet powered. My 1950 three ton has the small horn button, hope that helps.

Spanky Here is an interesting ad from the 1939 Montreal Gazette. I find the wording in the ad interesting. Notice the ad does not say Chevrolet Maple Leaf Trucks but says Chevrolet and Maple Leaf Trucks.
