....got the panel out and drove it to Greenville. 30 miles one way. First time I've drove it since K.C. Reunion.

I'm continuing to use my '50 as my daily at the moment, still generating lots of smiles and thumbs up as I go.

While visiting a customer to discuss a job yesterday I was gifted 25 gallons of gas.
They had drained a customers car who had inadvertantly filled their diesel car with it! (A common problem it seems).
Thankfully their tank was virtually dry when they filled up so the diesel contamination is minimal.
The 25 gallons was more than enough to dilute what was left in the tank and won't cause me any problems, and at roughly $10 a gallon here, every little helps.....

I'd been driving it like a maiden Aunt to try and squeeze every mile out a gallon but threw caution to the wind when a kid in a Mitsubishi EVO blipped past me on the way home, out of curiosity I stuck my foot in to see what happened,he was shocked to see a big old Chevy grill looming up in his rear view.

I don't think he expected a ratty looking 64 year old truck to be so fast,in fact neither was I! grin

These old power plants can surprise us at times....
25 gals, that's a nice gift. Any residual diesel will lube up the valve stems for a stroke or two.....
It's rare when I have to pass in my 49 but I had to the other day and I was nearly "floored", well not literally grin when I stomped the gas down and the 216 roared to 65 much to the shock of me and the old folks I was passing.
That 216 sounded like it was about to fly out of the truck!
Thankfully it stayed together and kept on trucking grin

Dave,I should mention mine has a 350 small block and trans pirated from a rear end fire damaged '81 Corvette, sadly my 216 had thrown a leg out the bed when I got it.
That's probably part of the superstructure of a Chinese skyscraper by now!

Stovebolts were still relatively rare here when I bought mine so the V8 route was deemed the easy option, mind you that was 10 years ago now.

Now it's almost getting to the point you can hardly spit without hitting an AD these days! grin

I drove the '37 to Ga. today and met up with a few bolters at the drag stripe/swap meet. About 225 miles round trip. It ran like a champ and a nice day for a drive. Victoria even mentioned how nice it was smile

Woke up to our 1st frost of this fall so I decided to up open up the hot water valve on the water pump just in case I needed some defroster during the cruise. Loaded up Abby, my daughter and SIL's 7 yr old Bassett and took my usual dump run and back road cruise.
Didn't need to run the heater fan and even cracked the window for Abby to smell the constantly changing scenery.
Engine temps ran approx 5 degrees cooler and Abby seemed to love her country cruise in the 'Bolt.

I drove the burb to Grand Prairie today for the Inliners meeting. It was a really nice day to be driving an old truck.

Got the 54 out of the driveway for the first time yesterday. Runs good but I have some work to do on the clutch. Have some binding or something because it doesn't release immediately when the pedal is pushed in. But other than that things went well.

Drove the Suburban around town a bit today after picking it up from the alignment shop. Lots of looks and thumbs up. Stopped at the gas station to fill up and quickly picked up a small crowd wanting to know about it. Guy with a custom '67 Chevy C10 pulled in next pump over so we chatted Stovebolts for a bit. Turned him on to Stovebolt.com so maybe he will sign up. Now back to work/play.
