I enjoy reading about everyone's progress in the 'What did you get done...' thread. With the show season already alive and well here in North Texas and coming soon to a community near you Northern types, I think those of us with drivers need a thread for our adventures.
Last weekend we attended our first show of the season in Hamilton, TX. We drove the Suburban about 100 miles to get there. Rained all the way there and back and my wipers quit. Got fed free BBQ and took home first place plaque for unfinished class.
This Saturday morning we met at a club member's place and waited for a caravan to arrive. The Guys and Dolls Car Club took off from Jacksboro, went to Decatur and picked up a bunch more from the Wise County Auto Club, proceeded to Weatherford to pick up the Parker County Cruisers and brought them all to the meeting point. With our group added there were over 50 vehicles. We then caravaned to Fort Richardson State Park. We got a catered BBQ dinner out of that one, too.
When that was over we left Jacksboro and headed to North Richland Hills and entered the Christian Classic Cruisers show. By the time we got home we had put 186 Miles on the 'burb.
Today I got her out again and put about 50 miles on her putting up flyers for our car show in little country crossroads towns. We took the county roads back home. I enjoy putting down these old former wagon roads in an old truck.

This weekend, I finally got my ring-job done, and went for a smoke free drive. While seating the rings, I had the realization, that I can't actually remember the last time I drove anything with the pedal to the metal. After changing the oil, I took a leisurely 50 mile drive around the peninsula where I live. Here, other than the highway, every road is a two laner. It's also starting to get spring-ish, so with the Southwind heater toasting my toes, I can drive with the windows down. It's daffodil harvesting season here, and I always like driving past the fields of flowers.

I'll bite. Got my 66 GMC out for a trip to Lowes, about 4 miles up the road. Went in got couple things I need and when I came out there was a lady with small child standing there. They waited for me to get in and as I started off she commented to me "Nice truck". I was as proud as if I'd won 1st place at a car show.Larry

Did some landscaping over the weekend. Drove the 48 to home depot for supplies. We received lots of smiles and 'love the trucks'

I put 60 miles on the bus today. With the tools in the back, she's a real low rider, in fact, when I turn left the curb feelers drag. I'm thinking I should get some extra striker flints....
Nothing like hearing the sweet roar when six in a row makes it go!

I drove the '51 burb to work yesterday, and on the way back ran into a real cloudburst. Even worse than having no wipers, rainwater shooting up through the holes in the floor and pouring down onto my feet from the open cowl vent, was trying to peer through the totally fogged up windshield. The defrost hoses are not hooked up.
Thoroughly enjoyed it. Reminded me of the old days when the burb was my only vehicle.
But I do look forward to getting my wiper motor back from the Wiperman. Three weeks and counting.

Your description " . . . rainwater shooting up through the holes in the floor . . . ) brings back memories of driving my Suburban in the rain (back in the 70s). However, back then my defroster worked quite well. And, that was when the rusted-out-floor-burb was our main vehicle.

Got up at 5 AM on Saturday so I could drive over to Dupont Registry’s Cars and Coffee. It runs from 6 AM to a little after 8 AM. Plenty of muscle and exotic cars. The ’53 felt right at home parked between a Ferrari and a Lamborghini. There’s no registration or judging, just everyone walking around admiring each others ride. Afterwards some of us headed over to the local Bob Evans and grabbed some breakfast and then headed on to the rest of our day.
It would have been a perfect morning if I’d had remembered to stop and put gas in it. Fix the gas gauge has moved up on the to-do list.
