I have read a lot of past discussions about installing headliners, but what I'm interested in is headliner finish.
I bought one of the aftermarket cardboard units, but I'm thinking of applying an old antique-looking map to it before installation. There was a post here wherein someone applied a collage of avocado box labels to their headliner - pretty cool.
Anyone care to post more pics of their "custom" headliner finishes?

Nice! I notice the visors are covered in the same material - nice attention to detail!
Has anyone done any other type of application? Rod run stickers? posters? Just looking for ideas other than painted cardboard.

AD_Pickup - looks good! Did you glue the (vinyl?) to a cardboard headliner from a vendor, or did you start from scratch? My '50 has a middle bow. . .how did you get rid of that?

No cardboard behind the liner, the middle bow is above the headliner. The headliner attaches to the bow by loops sewed into the seam.

327 views later, it looks like folks are interested in headliners. . . If you don't have pictures, how about sounding off with ideas you have for your headliners? Old newsprint ads? Burlap? Turkey feathers?  Keep the ideas coming! Craig

My plan (almost there) is to use thin cedar slats/veneer about 3in wide and run it in strips across the width of the ceiling after I lay my padding down.
The wood in the headliner will be matched with cedar shingle sunvisors and cedar door panel trim.
Cedar is wonderful.

yes Chooglin, cedar is great wood, but -from someone who has used lots of it for years- I'd advise that you make sure the cedar you use gets very well sealed all 6 sides and that you prepare and stash extra to replace pieces that split or warp with use and variations in ambient humidity  Bill

When I bought my truck it had no door panels, so I thought I'd make my own after I saw the prices for new ones. The material I settled on was used political signs. You know, the ones made of corregated plastic? I found a really large one and after measuring where the missing panels used to be, I marked it out on the plastic with a felt tip pen and then cut them out with some heavy duty scissors. Then I sprayed 3M adhesive on them and covered them with vinyl that I had bought at a Hancock fabric store. They turned out great. I have plans to do the exact same thing for my headliner.
Just my 2 cents worth.
