My name is Gerry Sinclair
I live in Chilliwack B.C. Canada

This is a 1953 1 ton Canadian made Model 1434 truck. For you in the USA it`s a 3800. I had a 42 Chevrolet tow truck but it was so tall, I could not get it through the carport door, So I sold it and bought this truck. I bought it in the summer or 09 and I have been buying parts and doing small restoration on the box and dumping parts and frame. I drove it around the block before I bought it so I know I would not have to do to much to get it running. So after getting it towed home on a flat deck I drove it into the garage. I have been working on it lots this passed month, because I realized I had sitting insurance on it a whole year and I did not do much on it. I did not want it to be sitting for years or longer, because that happened with a 29 Nash coupe I had. What I like is I can buy all new or reconditioned parts up here in Canada from my own city. I have bought, rear fenders, grill, instruments, dash parts, radio, front and rear bumpers, tail gate, front splash apron, some rims and tires lots of books and manuals. I hope to keep working on this truck and get it running on the road soon. I plan on keeping this truck the 6 volt system, but have thought about it and If I plan on towing anything I might have to make it 12 volt and up grade to front disc brakes. Here is some info on my truck.

Gerry:

Is that the truck from Vancouver that was in a downtown warehouse? I saw it on Craigslist and should have jumped on it as I've always wanted a dumper. Glad to see it stayed in the lower mainland.

welcome to the bolt. hope to see you at one of our get togethers. we will all be at the Mission springs pub for the sunday smorgasboard brunch after the haney fairgrounds swap meet on April the 17th. come on by, check the gagfest get together column for more info.

Hi Gerry

Welcome from a fellow Canadian living at the other end of the country in New Brunswick, where salt rust and tin worms are abundant.
What a unique Truck! I really like it. Thanks for sharing pics.
You will find lots of great people and knowledge on this site.

Trihawker reports:

The weather has been great, so I have been painting the back end of the frame and restored all the leaf springs and brakes and put the new 14 bolt rear end in. Going to put the drums on today and finally the tires, so I can move this around. Then I can start on the box. There are new pictures if any one is interested.
