I swapped out my original ring and pinion for a 3:55 to 1 set. Worked well for awhile, then had a disaster. Unsure what the problem is after dozens of hours, am thinking of replacing the whole rear end. It's a '51 half-ton with a 235. Is there an easy fit for a later unit? I have a 4-speed gearbox in the truck.
Easiest swap would be to another '48 to '54 stock rear. Otherwise you are looking at an open drive rear and a little searching here will give you all the options.
