32-55 original style 1/2 and 3/4 tie-rod ends
Does anyone know if there is a parts vendor that sells the original-style tie-rod ends for a 47-55 1/2 (and 3/4 ton) GM ton trucks?
One of my 1954 1/2 ton trucks has the original adjustable-style ends on both ends of the tie rod. Another 54 1/2 ton had the newer non-adjustable replacement-style ends on both ends of the tie rod. The 54 1/2 ton I am now restoring has an adjustable end on one end (right) and a non-adjustable end on the drag-link side of the tie rod (left).
The 1954 Truck Shop Manual states that the same adjustable style end is used on both ends of the tie rod
I know that the drag-link changed for 53-55, from an adjustable-ends drag link to a non-adjustable sealed-ends drag link.
My question is in regards to the adjustable tie-rod ends. Does anyone know a vendor that sells those ends (I can find the rebuild kit). The vendors I have checked with (American Classic, Jim Carter, Chevs of the 40s, and Classic Parts (Chevy Duty)) do not sell original-style tie rod ends (and, some incorectly state that the older- adjustable-end on the left was used though 1952 and that the newer non-adjustable end was used from 53 onwards).
Please do not advise me to use the new ends - I am looking for a source for old/original-style adjustable tie-rod ends (GM group number 6.233, marked left or right, 1932 to 1955-1st, either the housings or the full assemblies).
If I cannot find new ends, I'll soon post a Want Ad for used ends in the Swap Meet.
