Is there a difference between the '53 GMC and the '53 Chevy speedometer? Thanks

The GMC has a light color face and the Chevy has a dark color. I am not aware of any physical differences.

I have a '52 GMC and it has a 90 MPH speedometer with the tan/grey face the same as a Chevy. I think the earlier model GMCs with the 80 MPH speedometer had the tan faceplate on both it and the gauges.

My gauges are both dark. Most gauges I see for the earlier trucks were lighter. Refaceing kits for the '53 are the darker color.

Can you buy parts for the old speedometers? I need a new speed cup.

I just recently rebuilt both my speedometers for my GMC and '50 Chevy with rebuildable units I purchasd on E-Bay. They generally go for about $25 each. I don't know of anyone selling just the speed cup.

1952-53 GMC and Chevrolet truck speedometers were both brown-faced and 0-90 mph.

- If you have to stomp on your foot-pedal starter, either you, or your starter, or your engine, has a problem.
- The 216 and early 235 engine are not "splash oilers" - this is a splash oiler.
