Thanks to Steve Johnston for introducing me to this site. I just bought a 1957 Chev short box step side. It will take a few weeks to get it sorted out, but we're making progress. I bought the truck off e-bay in Georgia. It hadn't run since 1983. The old 235 was pretty much a boat anchor. As luck would have it, while looking for a new hood, I came across a nicely built 261 with dual carbs and exhaust. The owner was planning a long run and wanted a more modern drive train. It needs new gaskets, but other than that it runs perfectly. Once I figure out how to post a pic, I'll send photos.

Hey Ralf I'm just 45 minutes north of you, some of my jobs take me to Ashburn. Welcome to the site. You are fortunate in finding a rebuilt 261. I also have a 261 in my half ton panel. (not on the road yet) Hopefully, you can get her together in due time. Good luck.

Leo

Got the 261 in yesterday. Just a few more minor attachments and I hope to fire it up this weekend.
I posted this in Swap Meet too. I'm in need of a 15x7 6 lug Western Wheel 30 spoke turbine style rim. All leads would be greatly appreciated.

It would appear that I can't find that matching wheel. Has anyone used an adapter to fit a 5 lug wheel? Are they safe, if so, where can you get them?

The 57 is coming along nicely. I was on my way to the local speed shop when I notices an old Chev sitting in a drive a few houses down from me. Turns out my neighbor bought a 57 this summer too. We didn't get a chance to talk for too long, but I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of each other. I'll introducing him to this site, if he doesn't already know about it. What are the odds, of 2 57 on the same street?

As soon as learn how to post a pic I will. Give me a wrench, no problem. Ask me to navigate through a computer, that's a different story.

Hey Steve, Thanks for coming over today, I wouldn't of gotten that heater in without the help. Doing a road trip to see 53 panel sounds like a great idea.
