I need help! We are trying to pull the harmonic balancer off a 261 and it won't budge. We tried a harmonic balancer puller and either the holes are not threaded or they have rusted out.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Floorjack

The holes should be threaded--3/8 standard thread. If they are really stripped, I guess you could redrill and thread for 7/16" bolts. Some guys drill and tap the nose of the crankshaft for a "security" bolt, but I frown think you would have seen that.

My guess is that they are full of gunk. Clean them out good, solvent and a bottle brush. And, if someone has stripped the threads, tap the suckers.
