My son and I are rebuilding a 1966 c10 w/a 292 3 spd. We have ran into a problem where the alt does not line up even with the other pulleys. This is a new alt from Napa. Were there different styles made for that year.

The alts. were the same mountings but the 292 has different brackets then a 250-230. The 63-73 were different from the 74 up. Also the pulleys are different. That is were your problem is. You need the pulley from the old alt. They are easy to change.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

i made a heavy duty offset bracket (3/8-1/2'') that i bolted to the engine block. this has two holes drilled and taped to hold the alt bracket. my 292 (as many others) has to have the alt moved forward or backward when using a standard V belt to line up w/ the 292 pulley.
