I'd like to quote Builder first:

"Tell us your route and when you are expected to be going on this trip. That is how the "IRWIPI - Triple Dog Dare" adventure started. I was just asking about bolters on the way who might be able to help out with "shop stops" along the way. I had all kinds of bolters willing to help out if I had trouble. You have a network of friends right at your finger tips that will probably be more help than AAA."

that from a previous topic, which you can read by clicking here

sticking with Builder's suggestion, here's the route:
we're starting Sunday the 18th, in the afternoon.
starting point is Austin, TX.
we'll take I35 North to Round Rock, then Highway 79 north, to Shreveport LA. spend the night there.
Monday continue on 79 until Homer, LA, where we'll get the 9 / 63 / 167 to El Dorado, AR.
there we'll take the 82 East until we're home which will be Columbus, MS

seetz:
Have a safe trip and a great Thanksgiving with the family in Columbus. You are heading the wrong way however. I and the family will be down in Blanco for the holiday.

Hey Seetz!

Keep a list of all your contacts from the stovebolt pages handy. Try to get their real names. I found out that many spouses and kids don't know the handles of their stovebolt counterparts.

Just bring a cellular modem, laptop, cell phone, wits and guts. You can find everything else you need in the stovebolt pages.....or at walmart, auto parts stores and junkyards.

Good luck on your trip.

Builder - P.S. I Triple Dog Dare you to drive it to South Dakota. I'll take you out to lunch. I got parts too.

Seetz said something that made me think, it would be a good idea to Google all the walmart stores, junk yards, and auto supply houses on your way before you head out. Get maps of all these places ahead of time. May come in handy...

Builder I discussed it with my fiancee, and grabbed a map, and we figured it out. We're having our wedding on March 28th, in Columbus, MS. And for our honeymoon, we'll drive the truck to at least SD, hopefully even Montana. Should be a pretty drive in spring! And we'll have lunch with you, and gladly accept your 'California Corvette' as a wedding gift. THANKS! grin
