I have been trying for a couple of years to get the doors to close properly on my 1955 2nd series.I have installed new latches and have the drivers door operating OK,but the pass.side is driving me nuts.I would like to have a set of Bear Claw latches installed, but I cant find anyone around here to do the job.I hate to buy a MIG welder just to do the job.Does anyone know of a better latch system for the 55 2nd that doe not require cutting and welding?

Sounds like a great excuse to buy a MIG. I installed some on my 54 and it was not that hard to do. You may be able to rent a wire feed welder from Home Depot if one is in your area.

Have you checked the condition of your hinges? I had a similar problem with my doors. I finally took the time to take the doors off (left the hinges bolted to the pillars). I found 3 hinges with broken pins. On the 4th hinge (top passenger) the pin had worked its way halfway out of the hinge. After I fixed the hinges (PITA by the way), my doors closed a WHOLE lot better.
P.S.
By all means, use this as an excuse to get a mig welder!! You will love it.

Always get a 2nd opinion, especially if I am the source of the 1st opinion.

Hinges are AOK,its just a PITA trying to adjust the latches.I realize the TF doors are very heavy, but the pass.side is driving me nuts.

also check lower door hinge pocket. this is were the hinge bolts to door. there are three nut plates welded a sheet metal bracket. this bracket can rust out, untill this is repaired the door will always sag.
