 This is the second time I have seen these Hub Caps offered on e-bay. I have not been able to find anyone who knows why Chevrolet is in Russian. Theories???

Those are Art Deco era hubcaps and could have been created to go to Russia on a lend-lease truck...

Just a wild guess.

Canby huh. My brother lives just down the road in Aurora.

Russian spies stole Chevrolet's hubcap design! We are still discovering the damage Kim Philby caused. grin

OldSub has a good theory that may be correct! The link below is to an interesting site about the vehicles that went to Russia under 'Lend/Lease' during WW2. It doesn't indicate any automobiles, but that's not to say a few 'staff' cars weren't involved!

Old Goat, I'm not sure it's Russian. I had a couple of these at one time, and an old guy told me they were "knock-offs" and didn't say Chevrolet on them because of trademark registration laws etc. That may or may not be the case, but it sounded logical to me.

Old Goat you appear to be bidding on them. If you win them can you photograph the text portion so we can try to figure this out?

I searched for them thinking I might bid just to get a better look, but I don't want to bid against you just to see them up close.

You guys are great I knew if posted my question I'd get great intell. The writing is diffently Russian (I minored in Russian in college) I just assume it says chevrolet since I can't read the individual letters. Da! it's true I can get a date in 5 languages. Ok I can ask for a date in 5 languages. Anyway Jarge thanks for that Russian lend lease web site. Great Info, and Oldsub Aurora is only about 4 miles from my house. Great antique stores. grin

I bought a set of these a few years ago from Mr Hubcap in Albuquerque and the owner told me the same thing.
