I have a decrease in ride quality in my '54. I have been blaming it on the shocks, 40,000 miles on them. It hits a rough spot and rides very roughly and feels like the shocks are bottoming out.

I took them to a shop and they said they are ok.

Today I checked the air pressure of the tires and they were all around 22 psi. So I have added air up to 32 all the way around but have not driven it since.

Does anyone think that could be part of the problem? The truck is lowered so it is difficult to get under to remove the shocks.

Yes, that low of tire pressure would very much cause that kind of problems.

Agree with what Fib posted.

Soft under-pressurized tires are going to give you a wonky and mushy ride.

Now that their filled up, give it another drive and report back. I think you will be pleased.

What is the max tire pressure printed on the sidewall?

Depending on the vehicle, I use 35psi as a minimum. If the tire is rated for 50 or 60 psi, I'll run 40 or 45psi on a heavy vehicle.

In this post, you were considering new tires:

I'm using 30 PSI all around.

235/75/15. They have about 40000 miles on them. Also when not being driven it is in a climate-controlled garage.

Gord&Fran, I followed the link and reread it. One thing that I did not address was the speedo. It is programmable. You drive a measured mile and set it and do other adjustments. They had been a lot of comments before about my reported gas mileage/ 20 mileage to the gallon from Hot rod lincoln. And of course, he was correct. I was using what is referred to as mile roads in flat land Indiana. After using my cell phone to calculate a mile, some were 8 teenths or 9 teenths. So recalculated the speedo and I am getting around 15 mpg. ohwell
