Today I edited my profile to add displayed text in Forum Profile and the preview signature "photo" disappeared without me editing it. Second time this has happened. What am I doing wrong?

Ron, do you mean your avatar photo? I've had that go away a couple times. I'm blaming a Windows update on that.  Just have to relink to the photo on my computer.
