Hello Stovbolters

Anyone know of an effective easy way of cleaning a breather tube?
Thanks

I soaked mine in Kerosene and then let it dry out.
Others will hopefully chime up on their methods.

Same as Shaffer said. I used gasoline.

Others have said they burn it out with fire and repaint it when it's clean.

Of course the tube has to be removed from the engine, Rock it back and forth and use a rubber mallet if necessary and it will come loose.

You can also remove the cap to get access to the oil separator. Knock the cap off from the inside with a wood dowel and a hammer, it's just crimped on. Use a little gum-pucky to seal it up when you're finished. This is less scary than burning it, which I have done with a torch and a rosebud. That makes a lot of nasty smoke that's bad to breathe. If you're burning brush this spring you could add it to your burn pile but that's hard on the paint.

Put it on the ground etc. Dump a bag of charcoal on it and light it off. When the charcoal is finished, so is the draft tube. Tap out the residue, wash it out and spray it with the paint of your choice.
