Well.... I put on 31's and a new carb. did some burnouts and broke something. Imagine that! I'm not well versed in GM 4X4 from the '70. Not sure but the case looks divorced to me. The '74 crossmember was used and has a casting that seems to contain a shaft. I always assumed it was an open shaft. problem is under power the drivetrain seems fine. when it "relaxes" or coast it has a horrible bad sound. The throw out bearing made some noise once I put it back on the road after it sat 10. I don't think it's the problem. I'm assuming it's a chain drive case. It's behind a 4 speed granny gear trans.
