During the 2023 ODSS Wrenchfest, a fellow bolter graciously gave me a new set of points to help me rule out a slight misfire issue. While it did not resolve the issue, it ruled out one more potential cause. He goes by the handle Jethro. I don't know why he chose that handle. He clearly is not a Bodine nor a Clampett.

A nice fellow, very knowledgeable, helpful, and generous.
Just wanted to acknowledge him.

My grandpa's name was John. When he went off to Trinity College in 1912, Admissions asked him what his middle initial was and he said "Ahhh... J." Down the line he was asked what the "J" stood for and he said "Ahhhhhhh..... Jethro." So, Dad was J.J. and I was left with Jethro.

With a name like Jethro, one does not really need a "handle."

The Hillbillies debuted when I was in the 6th grade. Tell me I didn't catch hell. Folks still ask me about Ellie Mae.

I didn"t become a big Hollywood Producer or a Brain Surgeon, but I got past the 6th grade and I can shoot pretty good, too.

Thanks for the shout, Carl... I Love Stovebolts!

ps... that's probably the 137th set of points that I've put in a 216/235/261 since I was 14. Took me a while to figure out that a poor condenser could eat out a set of points in a pair of quicks! I've kept an old set with a crater on one point and a stalagmite on the other, just to remind me.

I did pondered for a minute. "What if his real name is Jethro?", then I thought, "probably not, must just be his handle."
So, how is Ellie May? You lucky dog you. smile smile smile

BTW, I am going to put in a new condenser. I did not like the looks of the points we took out that day. I just cleaned them 150 miles before I got to the Wrenchfest.

Get one from JonG. I did. The China clones are crap. They can ruin points before you even know they're crap. They don't dissipate the current load fast enough.

Sir, Yeah, Jethro was a hoot at the ODSS Wrenchfest and gets straight A's in my book, regardless of what formal education he endured growing up! If before I met him, he sold me (via the stovebolt market place) at a reasonable price the license plate glass insert for the Guide stoplight I've plan to restore up for the '52 'Burb project undergoing restoration. Also, got some 0W0 grease at wrenchfest and darn if I can't remember where I put the qt of it. No worries! Tractor supply had it for $6.59. Hoping to see you at Winchester with Jethro too!. Thanks Carl. V/r, Nick
