Morning all,

I have found that my door to rocker gap grows at the front of the rocker. For some reason the front 4 inches to rocker drops. Only thing I can think of is to weld onto the bottom of the door to close this gap. It is an extra 1/4 inch at its worst.

Is the bottom of the door straight. Throw a straightedge on there and see what you got.

Yes door is straight. Its the rocker that I messed up on unknowingly.

Did you install the step with rocker or just the rocker?

I sure wouldn't apply anything to a straight door just to get the gaps to look good. Fix the rocker, or call it a day and move on.

My concern would be that the door weatherstripping would not seal properly in that area.

No chance at fixing the rocker. It was installed with the step. I noticed it dipped down at the front too late.

If I add material to the door it should not be noticeable unless you wanted to put that door on something else.

I will take a pic tomorrow.

Live with the mistake. Nobody but you will ever notice it.

Sounds like good advice.

If you do extend the lip of the door, you may be able to shim the weatherstripping with foam tape to get it to seal.

That's nothing! No one will ever notice it unless you point it out to them.

I agree with Otto, once you get the finish painted it will be very difficult to see. The color contrast right now highlights the gap. If you want to test my theory , spray that whole section door, rocker, etc... the same color primer then stand back and take a look. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I think your door just came from the factory like that.

Well I could not leave it alone........................ Took 3/16 off the rear of the door and welded it shut. Added 3/8 to the front of the door. Still needs a little dressing, but it went easier than I expected. Got the shipping damage straightened out too. Kinda comical, the thickest filler I have on the truck is on brand new metal. O-well, what can you do?
