Hey all, thanks for the add! I am new to the old Chevy truck scene and am looking forward to finding out what fits what etc.....

I recently picked up a 1948 Thriftmaster 1-ton truck. However, it will not stay that long as I am planning a gasser build. About 6 months ago I sold my 1951 Chevy Hardtop to help my daughter with her bills for my 1st grandson. Now I am going back to building another gasser. I am making the drivetrain just like my hardtop which was plenty powerful and meant to look like it came from the 1960's.

The motor will be a 355 Chevy with dual quad tunnel ram, 700R4 transmission and a 8.8 ford posi rear end with 3.73 gears. Looking forward to gaining some knowledge.

Welcome to the 'bolt. The guys in the hotrod forum will love that! Please post some pictures of the truck... (and maybe sneak in one of the car too).

Another quality post.

Sounds interesting. I can't honestly envision a truck gasser, what does that look like?

Welcome to the forum. We would enjoy some pictures of where you are starting from as well.

It sounds like a lot of your time will be spend over in my neck of the woods (HiPo))

I look forward to seeing your project and progress.

Here is the truck and gasser. I will take some pics of the 48, I just do not have any good ones right now. Red one is close to what I am building

Welcome to the 'Bolt 48Gasser! wave

Your project will have a following for those that like to call The HiPo Shop home.

Can I offer a suggestion for when you do get into your project? If you don't intend on keeping any of the 1 Ton drive train or other 1 Ton specific parts, hope you would offer them up to fellow Bolters using our very own Swap Meet forums section. We have a Truck Parts For Sale forum and even a Freebies forum if you're feeling extra generous and wanting your left overs to find good homes.

Some 1 Ton parts can be somewhat hard to find and I am sure we could help find them new homes if that is your desire.

Oh yeah, don't forget to go say hello in the Midwest Bolters Association forum. Lost of 'Bolters residing not far from your noted home base.

Looking forward to more conversations and pictures as you can share. thumbs_up

welcome to the site! Will be a cool project for sure. I have always liked the looks of gassers! I understand the idea of weigh transfer for a drag race, but have always wondered how they ride just driving around town?

Welcome Gasser! I grew up in the St. Louis area but live in mid Missouri now.
Like Dan said, check out the Midwest Bolter's Association and see what we have planned.
