So a few years back I mentioned to my boys that I would love to get a 1950 Chevy truck for my 50th birthday. I didn't think anything of it after that. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, and it was my 50th birthday and I am sitting on the couch, my wife comes in with a blindfold and says "Don't ask, just come on." We get in the side-by-side and roll down to my 30x40 shop that I tinker in. My kids are all there and they pull off the blindfold to reveal a 1949 Chevy 3600, all original but not running. Stunned is not a word I use lightly, but it works here. I am now the incredibly proud owner of this beauty, so I am starting my research here on Stovebolt.com. I will be asking tons of questions and probably posting lots of pictures. I was very happy to find this group.

Welcome to the Stovebolt collective Adam!
What a fantastic birthday surprise. Looking forward to seeing more of your truck and trying to help in your journey.
Suggest you ask your questions in the closest on-topic forum you can see in The Shop Area forums so folks can focus on giving you the best advice and knowledge we can share.
On a "Side Lots" note, you might want to go introduce yourself and your truck in The Southern Bolters forum as you are right in their neck of the woods. There are also some upcoming significant events in that region you may be interested in knowing about.
Glad you joined up.

Adam, welcome to Stovebolt. I'm just down the road across the interstate from Spartanburg. Drop in for a hot dog and cold Pepsi. We have several Southern bolters in N.C. Are you close to papa joe in Statesville? My first truck back in 1973 was a 50. There are lots of parts for the AD style pickups. Visit often and make 4 more podt in the forums and you can send and also receive PMs. See you around the garage.

I work in Statesville at the airport, so I will have to look PapaJoe up.
