What’s the contraption on back of this one. Part of the drum brake assembly from a big truck?

Whatever it is, can it be changed to a regular u joint yoke style of output?

The picture is pretty fuzzy, but could it be an e-brake assembly? My 55 D***e has a similar looking assembly on the back of its trans that is part of the handbrake.

Yes, that is what is left of a parking brake for a big bolt, 1.5 ton or bigger. A drum was fitted over the 4 studs and a flange bolted to them that is the yoke for the u-joint.

easy to do, and if you find someone local with a bog bolt, they may be willing to swap that rear piece for one off a trans from a smaller truck. (I would if you were local to me).
