Hello to everyone. I had joined about 3 years ago but do to work and health the truck had to take the back seat. It had been in our family since 1981. Crazy thing was I built the engine so my brother in law would not junk it. He told me I could have it. I got the engine done and was getting ready to put it back in the truck he decided to paint it and keep it. He had a body shop and it became a work truck. After a few years it had brake problems so it sat in a garage then a barn till my sister asked if I still wanted it. I picked it up almost 2 years ago. Got it home and never thought it would run. It did. I was going to do just a little and just enjoy it. New brakes, lines, fuel lines, fuel tank, radiator, etc. I love this old truck but nothing I am buying for it is been easy. I did find out the engine was out of 55 to 57 38370004. I don't remember much about building it. I remember having problems with the adjustment of the lifters. I have been out of working on cars for almost 40 years. I will for sure be asking allot of questions. Thanks to everyone in advance.

Thank you for the great welcome. Gives me more hope. Going to try and post pictures . The truck had been sitting in a garage for about 10 years then got moved to a barn in 2000. It had not been started just pushed. My first question I am having a hard time finding molded radiator hoses. Top hose is 1 1/2 id bottom is 1 3/4 id. The hoses I order was for 51 235 eng. They are perfect but I'd is to small. I order for a 56 and I'd is correct but not molded correctly. The water pump is short shaft with a 5/8 pulleys. I don't have the history of the truck and who changed what. Thank you for the information on the jam only over hour from here going to plan to go.

Thanks for the pics. Good looking truck. If you can get the casting numbers off the engine and post them, the guys can tell you what the engine could be. If it was changed from the original 216 CI engine, the radiator hoses might not fit if you got them based on the year of the truck. The casting number will be on the passenger side near the fuel pump and just above the pan gasket connection.
Definitely head over to the Southern Bolters get-together.

Susie,
Wonderful job on getting the pics posted. The truck really cleaned up nicely too!
Suggest you post a new thread in the Engine Shop forum to ask about the radiator hose issue. Am sure many folks will chime in with helpful replies over there.
Would also recommend you post a new thread there as well with the engine ID info mentioned by Kevin above. We can then help further identify what engine you have to better answer engine related questions.
See you in the Tech forums.
