I need an education about the box inside the engine bay mounted where the brake MC is found. I see a rubber hose going into it.
Is that for some type of vacuum assist ? Curious minds want to know.

Possibly a hydraulic fluid reservoir for dump cylinders.

I have a '50 L134 (3800) Canadian truck with a dump box as well. My box lift system looks like the same as yours except my hydraulic pump is PTO driven off the transmission. You have a nice truck.
