I brand new to this forum and from what I’ve seen it looks awesome. I have a 1947 Chevrolet loadmaster 1.5 ton flatbed. It was purchased from a farmer that was going to scrap it and it’s been sitting around waiting for me to get it back on the road.

Why would the farmer have considered scrapping it if it runs, drives, and stops?

It didn’t run, drive and stop when he was getting rid of it. I’ve had the truck since 2015. I redid the brake system, got it running and driving. Then it sat again from 2016 until now.
Another reason might be that many farmers these days don't have any use for a truck that small. Now days it's mainly semis, or at the very least, larger tandem trucks. Today's large combines hold more grain in their hopper in one dump than would fit on some smaller trucks.
Gotcha. Still the fact that you were able to resurrect it and that it looks solid makes me wonder why someone would think the best solution is to junk it. Glad you saved it. It's a cool truck.

It also had no bed on it and all the glass was gone. The nicest thing in the truck was the seat. The engine compartment was full of walnut shells as was the cab. It was a mess. I’m glad I got it too. It needs to see the road again some day.
Wow. I thought that picture you posted was what it looked like when you got it.

Around 1982 I pulled a 228 out of a GMC from a junkyard in my hometown. There were 3 other chevy ADs there. I also got 2 radios, a fresh air heater and a cig lighter. All for $20. I went back a year later and everything had been crushed for scrap.
Like Rich's Toys said... the big John Deere combines dump 420 bushels. 150 bushels at 20% moisture on a 47 Thriftmaster 1-1/2 ton bottoms the springs and you'll be lugging out of the field in 1st gear. Been there.
