How do people seem to use their tablets outside? I know it is a stupid question but it is me.

Ron,

Not sure what you mean by "...outside?". headscratch

As in away from home where your tablet may be using WiFi as a signal source???

Several possible answers depending on more details. ohwell

As in away from home where your tablet may be using WiFi as a signal source. Yes. I see news readers interviewing people on the street reading off of tablets. Where do they get the signal? Another question, why does wifi stop about every hour on my home TV? Most time I have to turn the tv off and restart it. I do not have spectrum or any similar. I do get my wifi through spectrum cable. Is that as clear as mud?

You can create a hotspot from a phone that way you can use the tablet or I think you can use a tablet like a phone as long as you have it hooked up to a cell service ,but a little big to carry around .

There are a lot of tablets with built in cell modems so you don't need a hotspot.

Thanks, both. I have so much time on my hands. I am still trying to set up my new Visio 43" V TV, I can use it but I have to circumvent the auto settings because I can't remember my google password. This has a remote that you can speak in and go where you want. But is so small that it is hard to hold on to. I have a book with about 30 passwords but between time passed and my terrible handwriting, it is hard to figure out which one it is. I barely watch it for more than 20 minutes a day. Either I fall asleep or my shower is over, listening to music as I am now. ohwell Another question. How safe is wifi, I went t to have the oil changed today and the dealer has wifi available. I always carry a book everywhere and I thought a Tablet would be nice for that.

Public wifi like that is about as unsafe as you can get. There are multiple attack vectors that can infect you just by being on the same public network. They work via the wifi protocol, so there is extremely limited defense against them short of not connecting.
