I’ve seen a few AD gmc trucks online with a different grille than all of mine and was wondering if there was a change in the design in the late 40s or if there was a factory option for different grilles or perhaps folks are putting the big truck grilles on the small trucks

Attached images of the two styles side by side
The larger top bar is much more proud of the surrounding sheet metal
Non of mine mine have this big truck grille they all have the chrome or paint version if the recessed 4 symmetrical bars

Anyway, is this tiny big truck grille original or a modification?
I see it often online in photos of AD gmc trucks
Thanks

The 3 bar grill is the stock one used on the '47 and '48 models. I'm not sure when it was switched to the later style.

The older truck grills were different for the first year or two.
