These images look surreal! Incredibly clean. I thought it was a display. I especially like this image since we can see your reflection in the rounded surface at top. (Not sure what that piece is! )
Fun fun.
That's the back of the scoop. Of course I had to polish the inside too. I would not recommend that. She will be on the passenger side of the Ryan Falconer V-12 head (aircraft racing engine) sticking out of the hood of my 53 3100.
Spent some time this morning on the ‘62 C-10. Had some charging issues last weekend that needed addressing. I cleaned the battery terminals and made sure they were tight. Then checked the fan belt and tightened it a bit. Made sure the terminals on the alternator were plugged in tight. Then attempted to start the engine. Cranked slowly but started and showed about 14 volts on the analog volt meter. A couple of years ago I bought a digital volt meter so I spent some time switching them out. Started the engine again and it showed 13.4 volts. Lunch time was looming so I put the charger on the battery and the indicator showed a charge rate of 8-9 amps. After lunch it was down to 4 amps. Started the engine and shut it off again and the state of charge on the battery went down to 11 volts pretty quickly. Checked the date embossed into the battery case and it was 2017. Time for a new battery. We go into the deep freeze tomorrow so the new one will have to wait a few days.

Custom made a headliner for my ‘57 3200. I didn’t have enough material left from the door panels a couple of years ago so I took the idea of a friend and striped it kind of like the seat stitching panels. I had previously purchased a Black ABS panel and gave up trying to get it in the seal. So, I trimmed two sides about 3/8”, glued fabric to pieces of foam board, then glued those to ABS. Next, I used Velcro to stick to previously install foil faced sound proofing as I worked edge of ABS into seal using 4” plastic putty knife and twisting a dulled 1” chisel. I know….Yikes, but it worked.
New battery for the ‘62 C-10 this morning. Bought it last night and put it on the bench and hooked up a small 8amp charger. Charging rate went to 6amps then rapidly fell to 2amps. Went out this morning 25* and put the battery in the truck. All connections down to shiny metal. Truck started right up and the new digital volt meter went to 14.4 volts and gradually dropped to 13.5 and stayed there. All is good in the C-10 world and only took about 6-8 minutes. Now for some hot coffee. Hope everyone’s day is going great.

Todays project on the ‘62 C-10 was installing the new digital water temperature gauge. I bought this gauge a couple of years ago along with a digital volt meter. Took out the old analog temperature gauge and replaced it with the digital gauge. Connected all the wires and used color coded heat shrink to make the connections water tight. Started the engine and watched the gauge climb to 175 which is the normal operating temperature for this engine. Didn’t have to change out the sending unit. All is good in C-10 land today.

In the last three days I removed, inspected, cleaned, lubricated the generator and starter, cleaned the contacts in the voltage regulator, removed the 2G carburetor and cleaned it. Starter now engages each turn of the key, engine idles and accelerates much better. I'm still a little concerned about the generator/regulator, mid RPM it's steady, high RPM has some inconsistent output.

Pulled a new wire up through drivers side pillar and above the headliner, in line fuse, cleaned ground contacts and a fresh new bulb.....attached new wire with inline fuse to hot terminal on headlight switch and now I have a functioning dome light. formed and added some thin metal sheeting to the passenger door clasp. I had seen them somewhere on here so I thought I would attempt to make my own. it did close the door better so I will likely order a pair of them online. Had a shimmy at 60 mph, so I took off the front rallys and had them ballenced at the local tire shop. reinstalled and took it for a test drive. shimmy is gone. decided to do an oil change... 51 3100

Got around at 5:20 went to my 6 am coffee shop, meant to buff my light bi-metal contacts (on the switch) worked OK today . Foggy, damp and dreary out,so good to see the regulers back home in the shed by 9. Thought I might buff my contacts with some 400 paper on a feeler gauge,if I can make me do it !
Restructuring this thread so post here while the work is being done. ~ Martin
We had a lot of moving around and finally made major headway. This thread actually comes from a thread -- "What did you get done on your “Bolt” today?" -- started back in 2005 that had several other similar posts/threads added to it over the years. And those were the days before we had the ability to include images (other than links to images -- some of you will remember me fussing about this! ).
This topic has had a lot of traction and many found it helpful in their own build. Kinda like a mini Project Journal .... some *very* mini.
So we decided to split up the two (while we were restructuring and repairing the original thread of 2005), since the newer posts may be more helpful. The older posts are worth keeping and will come in handy in any searches out there.
From here out, all the posts about what you got done on your Bolt today (or thereabouts ) will be posted in here. Especially since the 2005 thread is now locked but still good for reading. ~ Peggy

OK, we'll use this thread. Continuing on my front axle/king pin rebuild, cleaning hubs/bearings/lug nuts. Backing plates and steering arms are clean and painted. I should have the knuckles back from the machine shop this week with the new bushings reamed to accept the new pins.
