Any tips on putting together the 1936 GMC T-14 grill upright bars. I have been playing with it for two days, I'll get one side together and start on the other and then it all falls apart. Gravity is not my friend on this frown

I have never done it yet but I would think that multiple hands and tape to hold them in place might be necessary.

McGyver it with duct tape, clamps, needlenose vice grips, patience and a dose of luck...don't forget to celebrate and splurge on another expensive part after success!

Well I got all the outer bars in and pre assembled the center section to make sure everything fit as it should. So now I have to take it all apart and put ALL fifteen bars in and hopefully not scratch anything smile Tape and hands are the only way to do this as clamps and plyers will damage the bars or scratch the paint. It would be nice if I could stand it up on the radiator cap and then gravity would be helpful. Wish me luck.

My grill came complete when I bought the truck 50 years ago, although some bars were slightly bent. Very hard to straighten. Anyway finally got it together yesterday, had my two boys over for thanksgiving, as I slid the center piece in they gently place the side bars in place and we gently laid it all down and got the screws in and tightened without to much cussing. Just have a couple of small chips to repair, Boy it sure looks nice. Yes I did install the side bars and then taped them to the shell body so we wouldn't have to fight both ends at the same time, also took some baling wire and wrapped it around the lower section of the middle bars to keep them in alignment.
