Peggy M Wow lot of interest from those maple leaves for a meet next year. Went to Kansas City in sept of 22 good time with bolters there. Was 869 mile round trip, got a little lost in KC but the neighbors coached me on in to Mongo's. So will wait to see, never been to Canada yet, wonder if it takes a passport to cross over I guess we'll wait to see what happens next.

I needed a passport to both enter the USA. and to enter Canada on returning home .
While in the USA. I heard of something of an advanced drivers license which might double as a passport as well but am not sure of the details .
Someone with more knowledge on this might chime in .
I hope to be driving through Illinois in the second half of March , maybe we can hook up for coffee and discuss what we have learned about the passport issue .

That would be a "Real ID" issued individually by each state. It has embedded info in it that can be read electronically. Not sure if it works for crossing into Canada, but will soon be required (or a passport) for air travel in the US.
For entry into Canada [cbsa-asfc.gc.ca]
US Border requirements [cbp.gov] (not as clear as Canada's info)

Michigan has the option for an Enhanced driver's license, designated ENHANCED in the upper left hand of the license. It allows us to drive to and from Canada.

I missed Thanksgiving Day in Canada October 10 so I will now say Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends and relatives and to the rest of us on this Day. I am thankful for all my Stovebolt friends and their families who allow us to get together in various places throughout the year. I am looking forward to Spring in Canada with John and Marie.

Do I need a passport? I have been across Canada from Detroit to Nigrafalls a few times but that was back in the good old days.

1) i'm pretty sure you need a passport now

2) if you get into Canada without a passport, you will then have a second problem, getting back into the USA without your USA passport
yeah they have to eventually let you return, but maybe not after a long detainment to decide you really are who you say you are

perhaps getting the passport is best as to not set yourself up for the added travel anxiety or hassles.

You would need a passport ,I think the enhanced drivers licence was cancelled a few years back in Ontario .

Although the snow hasn't quite melted yet we are starting to look at dates for the get together here in Whitby Canada .
We have now considering the weekend of the 10th of June to hopefully end up with better weather .
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated .

John
