Ive tried posting several times, but for whatever reason the posts never appear.

It has a 283 4 barrel stuck to a 3spd top loader Packard transmission.

I had a mongrel like that in the early sixties. Chev coup body, Olds motor, Packard three speed and an open-driveshaft Pontiac rear axle. The Packard trans did not have provision for a torque tube. But that's not to say that none of them did. Mine had a bad 2nd gear syncro. Syncros were serviced as a unit with the mainshaft. Not available separately. Dealer item (Studebaker Packard at the time).The wrecking yards had overdirve Packard units available but that was way beyond my ability to cope at the time. Car went like mad. Burning rubber in at least two gears.

51 3800 PU, 62 261 (w/cam, Fenton headers, 2 carbs, MSD ign.), SM420 & Brown-Lipe 6231A 3spd aux. trans, stock axles & brakes. Owned since 1971.
