Hardware more frustrating than an E clip? In my case that would be the piece of hardware Du jour. Any piece of hardware I ever try to use seems to have a pact with the Devil to make my life as complicated as possible.

I always understood the Jesus clip to be the wire type clip used in retaining some transmission cooling lines. I’ve had a go around with that clip as well.

It’s definitely no less evil than the classic e clip.

I recently discovered a life-changing tool known as long reach hose pliers. They all but eliminate frustration with hose removal and can even be made to loosen a spring type clamp in an impossible location.

However, aside from HRL’s suggestion of the modified slip joint pliers, I have yet to come across a tool, or a YouTube video that claims victory over the e-clip.

This might not be found in a lot of hardware stores ,,but just recently I found a way to put a key on or off a key ring without splitting my thumb nail ..it called a staple puller ..

There is one which comes close if not surpasses the e-clip.
It is the dang-it clip (cleaned it up for the sake of the children).
It goes in a groove in the end of the piston to retain the piston pin in a small 2 cycle engine. It is tiny and when you finally dig it out, it has a propensity to end up in your eye before you can close your eyelid. Had one hit my left eye dead center, scratching my cornea pretty good.
