I bought a '56 GMC short bed step-side truck about 90 days. Was told it ran when it was parked a few years back, turns over but no spark. Rather than spending $ on an old drivetrain w/ horrific wiring (home acorn nuts everywhere), I'm going all in with a new engine/trans, suspension, wiring etc. I'm looking forward to learning from this forum as I embark on building a nice daily driver.
Plans: Suspension: '93 Corvette front/rear suspension (Dana 44) using Flat Out Engineering kit Drivetrain: LS engine w/ 5-speed TKX transmission Interior: bucket seats (TBD) Power steering: considering using Prius Electric Power Steering (EPS) module instead of hydraulics Electrical: new American Autowire harness Gas Tank: Tanks Inc universal w/ in-tank FI pump Radiator: Be Cool Gauges: Dakota Digital Pedal Assembly: Strongly considering Tilton solution
I have more details, but that's the major component plans.
I'm just north of Austin Tx (Round Rock to be specific).
Thanks, Bryan
