While attending a local car truck get together with Fox last Wednesday in Stony Plain I noticed a 72 longhorn 3/4 ton had parked beside me.
I’ve been handling out flyers for a couple of years looking for a replacement gear set for my 5:14. He mentioned he had a complete rearend out of a 1970 3/4 ton sitting in the grass behind his garage but wasn’t positive if it was what I was looking for, he said I could come out to see if it’s in fact a Eaton.
I’m happy to report that it’s a go to upgrade my 1950 1Ton.

Yay! Gives hope to those still looking that they are still out there.

Thanks for sharing.

I'm looking to go the other direction- - - -lower gearing. Is there a lower ratio gearset than the 5.13:1 available for the 1 ton rear axle? I'm trying to decide what rear end to use on a doodlebug tractor I've got on the drawing board, and so far, I've got a choice between a 5.13 single speed axle and a vacuum shift 2 speed that can get down into the 8-something gear ratio on the low side. Power is going to be a Mercruiser 4 cylinder, with a turbo 350 automatic and a crash box 4 speed in tandem ahead of the drive axle.

Yep, but with a crash box behind it! A torque converter effectively doubles engine torque for added pulling power from a stop- - - -then all the gears take over. The only thing that will keep it from climbing trees will be lack of traction!
