Ron,

If all else fails, is there still one mounted on the opposite bed side?

Could take measurements to help search on line for a new one (glad to help if needed), or you could even remove and take to your local FLAPS and see what they have. Several FLAPS carry multiple sizes/types of replacement door strike latch posts in their common hardware sections.

Let us know how your search turns out.

Ron if it is a Mar-K tailgate this is probably what you are looking for. The instructions refer to it as a latch striker. Be sure to get the 5/16 bolt that attaches it to the bedside. Its not a standard part you can buy at the hardware store. Its made by Mar-K

I went to NAPA today but they were closed. Then I remembered this was a specialty part, I am assuming made by the MAR K or sourced by them. Waiting for a return Email.

I called Mar K yesterday and they are to get back to me. The only glitch is the part is in a kit for $120.00. so I am waiting to hear.

Ron,

That is a big ouch (buying a full kit for 1 part).

Is the mate to the missing latch post part still on other side of bed?

If easily removed, may be worth taking to a local machine shop to see if they can duplicate.

Alternative is bite the bullet for kit and save remaining parts for possible future repair needs.

At least your tailgate will safely stay latched again.

Let us know how thing work out.

Still waiting for Mar K to call back. I have in mind how I can make one. Basically, the part is a bolt 2 washers, and a piece of tubing. I am sure Lowes has electrical tubing I could down. When it is screwed together it is only 1 inch long.
