Happy Birthday Army. I was fortunate enough to be able to pay twice the normal cost of an Army Birthday Lunch at the chowhall!!

Another quality post.

Happy Birthday, Army!! Sorry about the late entry. But I did fly my granddad's casket flag (USArmy vet) in honor of the day.

By the way, I was in Army ROTC for a year (while attending Marion Military Academy in Marion, AL in the "Service Academy Prep" year). I rose to the rank of Cadet Corporal. I took correspondence courses on driving the M-113 and how to set up a 40mm mortar. Does that qualify me as an Army vet?

John, If you had been in ROTC for more than two years, you would have been enlisted in the Army and therefore would be an Army vet. In your third year of ROTC, you had to to sign papers committing to service. At least that was what happened in the late 60's when I was in Army ROTC in college.

But as far as I'm concerned, if you were in Army ROTC, then you're an Army vet. thumbs_up

I spent 8 years in the Army prior to going blue. I trained Cadets at West Point to handle explosives during their summer camp. Made for great War Stories.
