Where do I find the I. D. plate on a 1946 chevy 3100? Is it stamped on the frame somewhere?

Where do I find the I. D. plate on a 1946 chevy 3100? Is it stamped on the frame somewhere? Serial numbers were not stamped on Chevrolet frames until 1955. The only numbers on your truck that mean anything are the chassis (attached to the cab) and engine serial numbers. Mike B

The only I.D. plate I found ( this morning ) is on the right side cowl but can't read the numbers very well. Then while vacuuming out the cab and glove box found a registration card with the vin number and it matches the plate. So the only piece I am keeping are the bed with only one small ding in the top of the tailgate, no rust or rot anywhere and it as straight as a tight string.
