I've seen a gear corrector that corrects for the error in the speedometer when you change the differential gears from 4:11 to 3:55. I think I'd like to add one of these to my truck, assuming that they're still available. My question is: are they reasonably accurate, and mainly, do they hold up OK and last for a long time?

Speedo shops can make up most any permanent ratio adapter for your new diff. ratio which is a routine operation for many trucks.

Way back when I changed my gears to the infamous 3:55, my local speedo shop was able to produce a gear adapter. The speedo reads dead on and it's been 15+ years. I periodically check all my vehicle speedo by using a phone app call Speedbox.

https://www.bobsspeedometer.com/products/ratio-adapters/I haven't used them but they seem knowledgeable and willing to talk.

Tim, Thanks for posting the link. Looks just like the one I'm using.

Craig, I have been using a similar ratio adapter since 2007.
As you know, if you use the measured/timed mile technique, that type of ratio-adapter adjusts for gearing and tires diameters.

I used bobsspeedometer for the factory speedo and tach in my fiberglass Chevrolet, I had put new needles on them and a new circuit board for the tach. I drove to his shop, told him what I needed, he looked at what I had in my hands and knew what they were from, calibrated them on the spot while I was there, didn't want any money for the work, I gave him some money and both units are still working after 20 years.
