Lady wanted to keep her families 58 Chevy all original so first we had her try to find a shop to overhaul a Turboglide (now has a 350). Next we let her take it to a couple shows with non power drum brakes and no a-c IN TEXAS. Now has p/b and a-c. Can now use just toe pressure on brake pedal and her blouse doesn't stick to her back from May to October. Funny how you can give them what they ask for and then they ask you for what you recommended. I think 1958 is a very under-appreciated year of Chevrolet. The tri-five stuff gets all the love and they are certainly iconic cars.
That thing is sharp. I like the 58 design. Particularly the front end.

Probably the difference in brake pads (yesterday v today), Evan but at 70 mph I never had a bit of trouble stopping the 1958 I owned with non power brakes. In fact, I thought that was one of the best parts of the car. That and the fact driving on the highway felt sort of like sitting on a couch in your living room. It was hot in the summer, though and in the city power steering would have been nice.

I have a family friend that wants a 1958 Impala. He’s wanted one for years so I don’t see it happening.

That and the fact driving on the highway felt sort of like sitting on a couch in your living room. I drove a '92 Buick Roadmaster Station Wagon for a little bit (till I smashed it in a demo derby :D) and that thing was really cushy. Don't cry for it, It was pre-crashed  A family friend had a '58 Chevy, and I always liked that style.

JW51 1958 was not well-loved back then, I was 15 when they came out. A friend had a 1958 Bonneville, he was a state gasoline inspector so it had a siren on it. His 15-year-old son drove it around the country roads.

Well, women never listen to the first man they ask anything.  I knew a local fella that had a gorgeous '58 Del Ray in black with all the chrome bits and red interior. Super nice ride. -Woog
