The 66 Lemans that came in the shop with an OHC I6 is getting close to leaving as a 67 GTO with an 800hp blown LS. Is a convertible so MUCH chassis stiffening was done and worked over fender wells to take big rubber. Customer wanted 700-750 rwhp but found a supercharger made in Australia by HARROP that has an over 70% thermal efficiency which means a couple more degrees of advance and a few more rpm so it looks like 800hp is expected. A turbo can be used with near off the shelf parts but a positive displacement Roots type gives instant brutal torque so driveshaft, differential, and axles are being upgraded. My old Cannon camera is getting temperamental and I don't know how to transfer pics to lap top from phone so I'll post them as soon as I can. On the other hand if you've seen one 800hp mid-60's GTO you've seen them all.

Evan, toss your old Cannon in the trash and buy you a iPad. Even a slightly used one will do for photos. Take your photos then send them directly from your photo file to Stovebolt using the instructions posted in the left margin of every page. So easy even I can do it.

If you're trying to take pictures with a Cannon, you're probably using the wrong ammunition. Cannon = Boom! Canon = Click! Sorry I couldn't resist.

Coilover,
I would love to see these pictures!!!! I have a 77 Olds Cutlass I have always wanted to make into a convertible. Not a full mech, just a top that snaps in place or something like that to get me home if it rains.
That car would be so much more fun if it was topless.

Ferris, Home made convertibles can be a real can of worms. Factory ones have a much heavier reinforced frame and often torque boxes. The doors soon sag or are hard to open/close and an engine with any torque in your case maybe a 455 will soon have everything distorted. I have two Velveeta cheese boxes to show ones considering this; one has the lid on it and the seams taped, the other has no lid. The complete one does not twist easily while the open one is like wet spaghetti.

Coilover,
I agree with most of what you say, howeverrrrrrr
The 77 Olds is a full truck frame car. Mine has a ridiculous 260 V8 and a 2.73 Gearset.
Should not be any body issues. Might be a windshield issue?

You're right! Doing a pedal to the metal hole shot with a 260 would put the same twist on a frame as a 455 idling.
