We lived in western Washington at the time and I think we had a TV during Mickey Mantle's breakout year of 1956. I was 12 and could pick any team I wanted because the nearest "home team" was in St. Louis I think. No team was on the west coast or even the Rockies. Any 12-year-old would pick Mickey Mantle's team if he had the choice.
