What kind of grease do you put on your distributor grease cup? Would John Deere Corn Head grease be ok to use? Mine has what looks like chassis grease in it. I guess that's what the machine shop that rebuilt my 235 uses.

Never heard of petroleum jelly. I use chassis grease. I've found bearing grease isn't viscus enough and squeezes out around the threads of the cup.

Tiny Petroleum Jelly is vaseline. I know that. I meant I never heard of it being used as dizzy lube.

I went with chassis grease after removing the spring, cleaning and inspecting. There was not a wear disc inside, so I turned a piece of round stock plastic on the lathe to make it a loose fit inside the hole. I made the disc with a reduced end tab that's a press fit into the spring. That way it will come out with the spring if I ever need to remove it.
I used corn head grease in my steering box and have a little left on the shelf so thought I ask about it.
Thanks for the replies!!
