I got a new laptop and it won't run the photo editing software that I've used for many years (I'd have to purchase a newer version). Anyone have any ideas for me on FREE photo editing software I can download? Thanks in advance.

For simple editing I use Irfanview. I've been using it for a long time. It's freeware with no ads.

Tiny, thanks, I'll check it out.

Edit: (follow up) I downloaded this program (the basic 64-bit version, no extra plug-ins) and found it to be fast and easy to use. It is very similar to the editing software that I've used for years (ThumbsPlus) but with some better options. Thank you again for the lead!

Excellent. I'm happy it works for you. It's a great program, especially for freeware.

Irfanview is great, I use it all the time.

another good one for simple stuff, like adding text is Photoscape.
